The ultimate destination for Radar Laser Detectors

Beltronics Vector 940 Radar Laser Detector Review

Beltronics Vector 940 Radar Laser Detector The Vector 940 is a simple, low priced radar detector that will fit the needs of most drivers. Radio detection includes X, K, and Ka bands, with two city modes to prevent false alarms from X-band security devices like door openers and burglar alarms. Combined with its digital signal processor, the 940 is less susceptible to false alarms than most other detectors in this price range. Laser detection is also included, but like other devices, it won’t be able to give you an alert until you are very close to the gun. Beltronics-Vector-940-Radar-Laser-Detector

The unit includes a text display and bar gauge describing the type and intensity of the threat, as well as voice alerts. The automute decreases the volume of the alert once you’ve been notified. While Beltronics advises that the unit should be placed on a windshield for the best laser sensitivity, many luxury brands now have windshields with an anti-lacerative coating that can be damaged by the mount.

People driving in countries and states where radar detector use is illegal will appreciate the unit’s VG-2 immunity, which makes it invisible to radar detector detectors. The unit can also be easily removed thanks to the mount lock button on top of the detector.

One major advantage of the Vector is its support of the Safety Warning System (SWS). This broadcasts information on road closures and other safety hazards, giving the drive some time to plan around it. SWS is still very new and is not yet in wide use, but in the future it could mean considerable time savings for drivers who can receive these messages.

The Vector 940 currently retails for around $170.
